In Genshin Impact, you will be challenged in different forms, from the get-go you will need to think about your team and combinations, which characters you have at your disposal and which weapons you have unlocked.
The core aspect of the combat in Genshin Impact is the combination between status effects applied by the elements and how different characters can apply them or use them to generate another effect, for example, you can detonate a lightning status effect using fire to create an explosion and so on.
Characters have at their disposal a few distinct forms to cause damage to enemies, help your party with heals or beneficial effects and even be more mobile. You can use three distinct moves in the game - basic attacks, elemental skills and elemental bursts. Basic attacks are just a combination of a number of weapon swings that you can hold the attack button to charge or simply tap it, or attack from air to do a plunge attack. Elemental skills, which are more impressive attacks, where the character use their element to do a flashier hit with different effects or even protect the party. Elemental bursts are the ultimate skills with both a cooldown timer and energy pre requisite to use, they are way more powerful than the other two and the defining trait of different characters.
You need to have all that in mind during the combat, what characters does what, and how they can complete each other, because you can switch between the characters in your party at any time during combat so you can combo then together and prevail against the challenge that you are facing.
Talking about challenges, you will find different types of dungeons called Domains, where you can fight and beat the boss to get something called “Artifacts”, which are the equipment of this game that you can use on your characters to make then even stronger. Or you can just run around and find some big baddies called World Bosses, that you can fight once a week for a lot of rewards. And what can you do with those rewards? From leveling your Adventure Rank to unlock harder content and greater challenges, to getting even more primogems so you can get that character that you want the most, or even that weapon that eludes you, so you can attempt to beat something called Spiral Abyss, where you can compete for rankings against other players and get even more rewards, that’s the gameplay loop.
If you are thinking about getting repeated characters and what do they do for you, don’t worry, you get something called talents that you can unlock if you get someone duplicated, that make the character even stronger, with better skills and sometimes even changing how you can play them.
In the end, Genshin Impact is a world in constant development, with more cities and characters being added so you can explore more and more, finding out what is happening in the story, or you can just focus on getting stronger and stronger, making the best team out there or even just stopping by to listen to some of the songs of the game after a long day.
