Total War: Warhammer III is an upcoming turn-based strategy and real-time tactics video game developed by Creative Assembly and published by Sega. It is part of the Total War series, and the third to be set in Games Workshop's Warhammer Fantasy fictional universe (following 2016's Total War: Warhammer and 2017's Total War: Warhammer II). The game was announced on February 3, 2021; it is scheduled for release later in the year.

The end of the Total War: WARHAMMER trilogy is near. Gather your military forces and step into the Chaos Demon Realm! In this unpredictable and terrifying dimension, the fate of the world will be settled.

Beyond the war-torn mortal world lies a pure and malevolent dimension of magic: Chaos Magic. This is a place of horror beyond the comprehension of mortals. It whispers the promise of power, but once you accept the temptation, it means the fall of yourself. For this, you will offer your soul. Melt into it.

Four forces of destruction rule this place, and they seek to break free and sweep the world with demonic corruption. The Nether, the god of pestilence; the Lust, the lord of bliss; the Adulterer, the way-changer; and the Fearful, the god of blood and killing.

However, on the border between the demonic realm and the mortal world, there are two powerful kingdoms standing proudly: the warrior kingdom of Kislev, and the magnificent dynasty of Aurora. However, both sides face their own challenges, and both have the ability to cross the boundaries of reality and expedite the Chaos Demon Realm.

The world's fate hangs in the balance. With just a slight push, it will be doomed.

Now, there is a distant figure who desires supreme power intent on achieving this goal. But to succeed, he will need the assistance of a champion warrior to do so...

The showdown that will consume all is at hand. So will you put those demons to death? Or will you instead harness them?

Like its predecessors, Total War: Warhammer III features turn-based strategy and real-time tactics gameplay similar to other games in the Total War series.

In the campaign, players move armies around the map and manage settlements in a turn-based manner. Players engage in diplomacy with and fight against, AI-controlled factions. When armies meet, they battle in real-time. The game will also have a custom battles mode where players can create customized real-time battles, as well as online multiplayer battles. Those who own races from the first two games will have the same races unlocked for multiplayer in the third game; a combined world map, similar to the "Mortal Empires" campaign in Total War: Warhammer II for owners of the first two games, will also be developed.

The races announced with the game are the human civilizations of Kislev (based on Medieval Russia) and Grand Cathay (based on Imperial China),[3][4] and factions based on the four Chaos Gods (Khorne, Tzeentch, Nurgle, and Slaanesh). Another race, as yet unknown (possibly the Ogre Kingdoms or Chaos Dwarfs), will be made available to "early adopters" (those who pre-purchased the game before release or purchased within the first week after release).

The main campaign's details remain unknown, but the developers have stated that it will take place within the Realm of Chaos, said to be the source of all magic in the Warhammer Fantasy setting. Game director Ian Roxburgh has said the campaign map will be "twice the size" of the Eye of the Vortex campaign map that appeared in Total War: Warhammer II.
